Ubisoft Database Gets Hacked

July 2, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

The video game software company Ubisoft has had it’s database hacked into and sensitive information like the passwords of account holders has been compromised. Ubisoft has released a message urging users to change their passwords as soon as possible.

We recently discovered that one of our Web sites was exploited to gain unauthorized access to some of our online systems. We instantly took steps to close this off and to begin a thorough investigation with the relevant authorities, internal and external security experts, and to start restoring the integrity of any systems that may have been compromised.

Ubisoft has put up a post describing the issue in detail on their blog page.  To get the latest updates from Ubisoft you can follow them on Facebook page. Ubisoft is the company behind many big title video games including Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed, and Call of Juarez.

Fix in the Works for 2013 MacBook Air Wi-Fi Problem

June 29, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

EarlyMacAirWifiFix

The new MacBook Air from Apple boasts all day battery life, a 4th generation Intel CPU, a super-fast SSD, a bump in graphics performance and support for the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi technology. Unfortunately, there have been a few issues with the latter.

New MacBook Air owners are experiencing Wi-Fi connection drops on a regular basis and the only fix seems to require you to reboot your laptop. This obviously sucks and it’s one of the reasons I prefer to wait a while before buying the latest and greatest.

Fortunately, there is good news out there as AppleInsider has reported that Apple is indeed sending out invitations for MacBook Air users to join the AppleSeed program which will allow them to download a early version of  the “MacBook Air WiFi Update 1.0”. This update is most likely aimed at correcting the connection issues that early adopters have been dealing with over the last few weeks.

The 2013 MacBook Air in both sizes is currently the only laptop in Apple’s lineup that features the new 802.11ac standard.

Tested, A Whole Lot of Geekery

June 13, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

TestedLogo As a geek, I spend a lot of time not only creating and compiling content for our site but also enjoying content from others as well and today I thought I would take a moment to share with you one of my favorite places to visit on the web.

Tested.com is a website that covers technology, science, art and basically just awesome and geeky stuff in general. Tested was created by Will Smith and Norman Chan and now features Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage from MythBusters. I am big fan of MythBusters and basically anything Adam and Jamie do in general. So you could only imagine that I would be extremely excited to see their involvement in the content of Tested.

The website isn’t the only content you can get from Tested, they also have a great YouTube page that is filled with great videos which range from getting a hands on look at the latest electronics, to going Inside Adam Savage’s Cave where you can witness the creative genius in action as he creates something amazing from nothing. Want to see the Hyneman in his natural habitat? Now you can by watching Inside Jaime’s Shop.

So, if you can’t seem to get enough geekery in your life ( and honestly, who couldn’t use a little more?) check out Tested.
