Buddy the Futuristic Dog Collar

August 18, 2015 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

With wearable technology slowly working it’s way into our everyday lives, it was only a matter of time before we got man’s best friend involved. This new futuristic dog collar called Buddy, is the ultimate must-have gadget for geeky pet owners.

‘Buddy’ will keep track of just about everything you could ever want to know about your dog, starting with temperature. No longer will you have to wonder if your dog is getting too uncomfortably hot or cold, you will now know the exact temperature of your four legged friend. In the event that your dog does get to hot or cold ‘Buddy’ can actually link into your Nest thermostat to have the temperature automatically adjusted.

With Geofences, you will be able to set a perimeter that your dog is allowed to be in by simply using an app for either iOS or Android. Once your dog leaves the perimeter that you set up, you will be notified with an alert. Even better, ‘Buddy’ will include GPS tracking so you can know exactly where your dog is.

To keep your pup in top shape, the Buddy collar will also include an activity tracker to measure how much exercise your dog is getting. This feature could also benefit some owners as it will persuade us to get up and get active with our pets. Need to know how much your pet is eating? Well, it keeps track of that too. How about appointments with the veterinarian? Yes, it keeps track of this information as well.

And last but certainly not least, it’s quite stylish. The Buddy collar has customizable LED lights that can be adjusted to pretty much any color you can imagine. Plus, having a well lit Buddy collar is great for safety as it provides ample night time lighting so drivers and cyclists will not only see you, they will see your pet as well.

All of these features of course are going to come at a premium, after all this isn’t your basic everyday pet store collar here. If you back the Buddy project early you will get the collar at a discounted price of $180 US. If the collar is fully funded and released for purchase, it could set you back approximately $450.

Where is the Network Utility in OS X Mavericks?

March 26, 2014 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

 OS X Network Utility icon

In OS X the network utility has been a efficient and convenient way to perform basic tests on your network like ping , trace route, netstat, whois, finger, and port scan. The utility provides all of these tools with the benefit of having a nice graphical user interface to work with (GUI).

The Network Utility has always been included with the installation of OS X and it still is with Mavericks, but it’s no longer in your main applications folder. It has been moved to (/System/Library/CoreServices/Applications).

  • You can easily find the Network Utility in OS X Mavericks by Using Spotlight (the magnifying glass in the top right corner of the screen) and Typing “Network Utility”.

Featured App: Papa Pear Saga

November 22, 2013 by Karlene Leave a Comment

Papa Pear Saga is a game made by the same company who also made Candy Crush (King), and it’s just as addicting. With so many matching games very similar to Candy Crush, Papa Pear is something a little different and very fun.

It does involve “lives”, you have 5 and every time you lose a game, you lose a life, then the timer counts down to receive more. You also have the option of in-game purchases (with real money), such as power ups, or gold bars to help you move along a little faster and easier. If you’ve played these types of apps before, you know all about it. Most of them now a days all work pretty much the same, but I do recommend this game, it is really fun.

papapear

Description

Try to make each Papa Pear shot bounce on as many objects as possible. Land a Papa Pear in each Barrel to advance to the next level.

Instructions

  1. Try to make each Papa Pear bounce on as many objects as possible to earn points.
  2. Try to land Papa Pear in each Barrel and advance to next level, new levels means more things to bounce on = more points.
  3. Try to catch all multiplier pegs because this will increase your multiplier and thereby your score.

You can play Papa Pear on Facebook, Google Play, and at Papa Pear Saga.

If you go to PapaPearSaga.com it says the game will soon be coming to iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android devices.

Featured App: Evoland

October 27, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

If you’re a fan of adventure RPG games then you will appreciate everything that Evoland has to offer. As the title of the game suggests, you begin to evolve as you play but it’s not just your character that’s evolving, it’s the entire game. You start off in a black and white heavily pixelated world and slowly progress through new technologies like adding sound and going from 8-bit to 16-bit gaming. Upon starting the game it’s apparent that your playing something that someone put some love into and you immediately feel rewarded for progressing, you can’t wait to see what will evolve next.

Evoland Classic (the first version of the game) was originally created by Nicolas Cannasse for a Ludum Dare competition in about 30 hours. Turns out the game won the first place (out of around 1400 games) and quickly reached over 300 000 players within a couple of months.

You can play Evoland Classic for free on the Evoland website but Shiro games took Evoland Classic and built a more complete game that you can now enjoy for $9.99. You can download it for Mac or PC from the Evoland website, Steam or GOG.com.
