After starting this website (GeekwithEnvy) a decade ago, I always had the idea of starting a YouTube channel to compliment this site. It has been something that I have really wanted to do. With work and changes going on in my life, I didn’t know if I could find the time. Because of this, didn’t know if I could translate my content into video format.
The early days of the website
I have spent a fair amount of time focusing on my website in the early years. In addition, I strived to make the content not only accurate but useful or fun. I’ll admit that I haven’t been keeping it as fresh as I would like; I need to spend some time putting up new content. There is plenty to choose from! I have found some solutions to problems in the IT world that I think would genuinely help some people out there.
Why Not?
The idea of creating video content has persisted and I have finally decided to go for it! “Why not?”, I said to myself. The content is going to be about technology both newer and older, like “Retro-Tech”. I have some ideas for showcasing plenty of software too. I plan on doing some mini documentary or historical overview style videos as well. In fact, one of my first videos is about the Sega Master System, a favorite 8-bit console of mine.
Motivational people
I feel inspired quite often and I have a lot of content planned for the channel. Other great youtuber’s have most definitely had an influence on me. I gravitate to these geeky/techy channels immediately.
Clint Basinger, has done a fantastic job over the years, a true inspiration really. Firstly, his “radio-perfect” voice overs are awesome, that voice is instantly recognizable. Secondly, his enthusiastic way of narration, and truly poetic scripting, is something that anyone could easily appreciate.
VWestlife, has always surprised me with something great that I wasn’t expecting a video about. I always end up enjoying the result of his findings and unique critical takes on a variety of tech.
The 8-Bit Guy, has not only produced incredible content but has released a few games of his own! His full on documentary videos are a treasure trove of geeky information. He puts a lot of research and hard work into his videos. As a result, his series on the commodore (IMHO) is a masterpiece.
