Tested, A Whole Lot of Geekery

June 13, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

TestedLogo As a geek, I spend a lot of time not only creating and compiling content for our site but also enjoying content from others as well and today I thought I would take a moment to share with you one of my favorite places to visit on the web.

Tested.com is a website that covers technology, science, art and basically just awesome and geeky stuff in general. Tested was created by Will Smith and Norman Chan and now features Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage from MythBusters. I am big fan of MythBusters and basically anything Adam and Jamie do in general. So you could only imagine that I would be extremely excited to see their involvement in the content of Tested.

The website isn’t the only content you can get from Tested, they also have a great YouTube page that is filled with great videos which range from getting a hands on look at the latest electronics, to going Inside Adam Savage’s Cave where you can witness the creative genius in action as he creates something amazing from nothing. Want to see the Hyneman in his natural habitat? Now you can by watching Inside Jaime’s Shop.

So, if you can’t seem to get enough geekery in your life ( and honestly, who couldn’t use a little more?) check out Tested.

How Does Superman Shave? Bill Nye Chimes In

June 8, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Gillette is running some interesting ads about how Superman shaves and they are asking many famous faces to come up with their best answer. The ads are part of a promotion for the upcoming film Superman: Man of Steel. I’m actually enjoying a lot of the responses in each video, even though I know it’s most likely going to be all about a Gillette razor. The videos are no less interesting though, especially when we get to hear Bill Nye offer up his best theory.

Sony Offers Up New PS4 Teaser Video

May 20, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Sony has just released a teaser video that barely gives us a glimpse of the Playstation 4 hardware. It’s obvious that they don’t want the boys from Redmond getting all of the attention.

They also mention that you can “see it first” at PlayStation’s E3 Press Conference live June 10, 2013 starting 6:00pm Pacific Time at http://us.playstation.com.

Chris Hadfield Leaves the ISS With A Cover Song

May 13, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Commander Chris Hadfield has made an awesome video, actually he’s made quite a few awesome videos, but in this last one he says goodbye to the International Space Station as he gets ready to land back on Earth by creating an performing an amazing cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity”. The video offers something to this song that no other video can and it fits his situation perfectly, it simply captures the moment and the view of Earth is stunning.

Why Pac Man Stops Working After Level 255

April 3, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr 1 Comment

PacManKS

Very rarely do people play Pac Man and reach levels in the 200’s but if you happen to hang in there long enough, something rather odd occurs after you get past level 255.

You reach what is referred to as a “kill screen”. This kill screen essentially renders the game unplayable and you start to see some really strange stuff going on. This isn’t just exclusive to Pac Man either, other arcade classics such as Donkey Kong and Dig Dug also have kill screens.

So what’s behind all of this? Why isn’t there some type of formal ending? Well, the folks behind Numberphile have put together a great video that explains exactly why this happens.
