Featured App: Battle Camp

November 1, 2013 by Karlene Leave a Comment

Battle Camp is a great FREE app I came across and haven’t been able to put it down since. I’ve been seeing a lot of these types of games lately but this one is by far the best. Customize your little character from head to toe. They start you off with plenty of hairstyles and clothes, unlike some apps that want you to pay for 90% of the goods with real money. There is the option of in-game purchases, of course, like more energy and coins.

Battle other players in PvP, or monsters within the game. It’s as if Bejeweled and Pokemon had a love child. Match 3 or more and it creates an attack or gives you health. Fight to gather new monsters to battle with. Evolve them, make them stronger to battle your opponents.

Description

EXPERIENCE THE AWESOME!

Dare to clash with rampaging dragons and fire-belching warthogs? Then join Battle Camp, a persistent virtual world filled with legendary monsters and ancient evils. To survive, train a fierce monster team and form a Troop with fellow Rangers. Then work together to crush raid bosses, wage Troop Wars and dominate in real-time PvP.

Features:
• Monster battling Puzzle MMO.
• Explore a LIVE Virtual World.

• Crush the opposition in Troop Wars.
• Coordinate attacks in monthly Raid Events.

• Capture and raise over 175 monsters.

Blink 182 to Play at Blizzcon

In a recent press release from Blizzard Entertainment we now know that Blink 182 will be officially closing out Blizzcon 2013. Blizzard canceled their plans for a 2012 Blizzcon last year due to an intense internal schedule but in 2011 they had a fantastic show and closed it all out with legendary rockers The Foo Fighters.

“After two days of hard work watching games and playing games and talking about games, we can’t think of a better way to kick back and relax than to have your face melted by Blink-182,”  “We’re thrilled to have such an awesome band helping us bring BlizzCon to an epic conclusion.” – Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment.

“Nothing beats touring and playing in front of a live crowd,” said Tom DeLonge, Blink-182 guitarist and vocalist. “Our roots are in Southern California, so playing at BlizzCon will be like having a show in our own backyard—only with a couple thousand more orcs and elves in loincloths and bikini armor.”

Painting or Photograph?

Camel thorn trees-Namibia (Frans Lanting/National Geographic)
Tinted orange by the morning sun, a soaring dune is the backdrop for the hulks of camel thorn trees in Namib-Naukluft Park. (Frans Lanting/National Geographic)

Despite the way this image looks, it is indeed a photograph. This is a picture of Camel Thorn trees in Namibia which was taken by Frans Lanting for National Geographic. The backdrop is actually a large dune and the spots are small patches of grass.

This stunning photograph caused a lot of controversy when it was first printed as many people did indeed believe it was a painting. This photo was featured in a an article written by Alexandra Fuller for National Geographic back in June of 2011.

You may have the same trouble I initially did trying to see the picture for what it is, a real photograph, but if you look at some of the changes in color that occur on the sand dune and the shadows that the patches of grass produce, then you may finally see past the “painting”.

Get Creeped Out by Slender: The Arrival

October 29, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

slenderSS

It’s getting closer to Halloween and what could be better then playing a game that’s really creepy? Slender: The Arrival is just that game, it’s a survival horror game that’s an official “re-imaging” of the original game Slender: The Eight Pages which was created by Mark Hadley in 2012.

Slender is filled with creepy sounds and strange places and it’s enough to really freak you out, especially if you play in a room with all the lights turned off. What’s to fear besides the creepy environment? “Slenderman” he is a tall, thin and faceless man who wants to capture you and telepathically destroy your brain.

You’re on your own. No one to come for you. No one to help you. No one to hear you scream. Slender: The Arrival is the official videogame adaption of Slender Man, developed in collaboration with Eric “Victor Surge” Knudson, creator of the paranormal phenomenon that has been terrifying the curious-minded around the world since its inception, with Mark Hadley and Blue Isle Studios.”

The game is originally $9.99  but is currently discounted on Steam until November 4th for $7.99. You can use the widget below to check out the game and or purchase. (This is not a sponsored post!)
