Get Creeped Out by Slender: The Arrival

October 29, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

slenderSS

It’s getting closer to Halloween and what could be better then playing a game that’s really creepy? Slender: The Arrival is just that game, it’s a survival horror game that’s an official “re-imaging” of the original game Slender: The Eight Pages which was created by Mark Hadley in 2012.

Slender is filled with creepy sounds and strange places and it’s enough to really freak you out, especially if you play in a room with all the lights turned off. What’s to fear besides the creepy environment? “Slenderman” he is a tall, thin and faceless man who wants to capture you and telepathically destroy your brain.

You’re on your own. No one to come for you. No one to help you. No one to hear you scream. Slender: The Arrival is the official videogame adaption of Slender Man, developed in collaboration with Eric “Victor Surge” Knudson, creator of the paranormal phenomenon that has been terrifying the curious-minded around the world since its inception, with Mark Hadley and Blue Isle Studios.”

The game is originally $9.99  but is currently discounted on Steam until November 4th for $7.99. You can use the widget below to check out the game and or purchase. (This is not a sponsored post!)

Featured App: Evoland

October 27, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

If you’re a fan of adventure RPG games then you will appreciate everything that Evoland has to offer. As the title of the game suggests, you begin to evolve as you play but it’s not just your character that’s evolving, it’s the entire game. You start off in a black and white heavily pixelated world and slowly progress through new technologies like adding sound and going from 8-bit to 16-bit gaming. Upon starting the game it’s apparent that your playing something that someone put some love into and you immediately feel rewarded for progressing, you can’t wait to see what will evolve next.

Evoland Classic (the first version of the game) was originally created by Nicolas Cannasse for a Ludum Dare competition in about 30 hours. Turns out the game won the first place (out of around 1400 games) and quickly reached over 300 000 players within a couple of months.

You can play Evoland Classic for free on the Evoland website but Shiro games took Evoland Classic and built a more complete game that you can now enjoy for $9.99. You can download it for Mac or PC from the Evoland website, Steam or GOG.com.

Valve’s Official Steam Machine Hardware Specs

October 4, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

SteamLogo

If you’re not already aware, Valve is creating it’s own hardware to run Steam to try and create the ultimate gaming experience.

This hardware is just a prototype and the final product isn’t due until 2014, but 300 lucky Steam users will get to beta test the system sometime this year.  Currently, there are no images of the prototype hardware but in a recent post from the company they have provided us with some pretty serious specs.

Here are the specifications for Valve’s 300 prototypes:

  • The 300 prototype units will ship with the following components:
  • GPU: some units with NVidia Titan, some GTX780, some GTX760, and some GTX660
  • CPU: some boxes with Intel i7-4770, some i5-4570, and some i3
  • RAM: 16GB DDR3-1600 (CPU), 3GB GDDR5 (GPU)
  • Storage: 1TB/8GB Hybrid SSHD
  • Power Supply: Internal 450w 80Plus Gold
  • Dimensions: approx. 12 x 12.4 x 2.9 in high

As a hardware platform, the Steam ecosystem will change over time, so any upgrades will be at each user’s discretion. In the future we’ll talk about how Steam will help customers understand the differences between machines, hardware strengths and weaknesses, and upgrade decisions.

We aren’t quite ready to post a picture of our prototype – just because they’re not finished enough. Before they ship we’ll let you know what the prototype looks like. And we expect people to redesign the machine, too. Both from a technical perspective, deciding on different components, and from an industrial design perspective, changing the enclosure in interesting ways.”

Featured App: Magic 2014 – Duels of the Planeswalkers

Magic2014 Art

Magic 2014 – Duels of the Planeswalkers is now available. It released on 6-25-2013 and is available on many platforms including Playstation Network, the App Store (iPad), Google Play, the Amazon App Store, Xbox Live Arcade, and PC on Steam. You can pick up the game for $9.99 or play the trial version for Free.

Magic 2014 Duels of the Planeswalkers features 10 brand new decks, 15 new encounters, 10 new puzzle challenges, and an all-new Sealed Play mode, that allows players to open booster packs and build decks to play against the AI and other players. Magic 2014 players also get a first look at cards from the Magic 2014 – Core Set, including the highly anticipated Slivers cards, creating even more seamless integration between the online and offline games.

If you haven’t played Magic: The Gathering then honestly, you’re missing out on a great trading card game. In fact, Magic: The Gathering (MTG) is the original trading card game. Yes, that’s right, MTG was the very first of it’s kind and it was invented by Richard Garfield, Ph D. and released by Wizards of the Coast in 1993.

The physical card game is so much fun to play as it offers up a great challenge and it’s a great way to get together and get gaming with your friends, but the digital game is just as good. It’s not often that a video game can match it’s real-life counterpart but the Magic series has done just that.

If your new to the game in general, don’t fear the unknown! Download the game and Magic 2014 will ease you in by showing you everything you need to know to get dueling.

For fans of the classic RPG, Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition is now available on Steam. If you have played the game before than you will appreciate the enhancements but if you have never played this game and you enjoy RPG’s, then I would highly recommend giving this game a shot. The storyline is engaging and the gameplay is fantastic. You can grab Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition for $19.99.
