Featured App: Treasure Defense

May 25, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Looking for something different and challenging to play? Treasure Defense may be just the game to help fix your boredom.

The objective in Treasure Defense is actually quite simple, defend your magic crystals!

You start each round with a set of magic crystals that you must defend from intruders who wish to steal them all. You task is to build up defenses using towers that shoot arrows, shurikens, and lightning. You must employ a strategy when building towers to ensure that you get everyone who tries to sneak in. You have an opportunity to rid of intruders both when they are heading towards your crystals and while they are trying to run away with them.

Your towers can be upgraded as you continue to play and gather resources like gold and magic. You also get a few power ups throughout the game to help get you out of tough situations but you must use them wisely as they have cool downs and require magic to use. Power ups include meteors, lightning, ice, an axe to make room for more towers and more. In some levels there are also special locations that you can place your towers that will make them even stronger.

This game is just plain fun and it offers up good challenges along with upgrades and an unique power ups to keep things fresh as you advance through the game.

Treasure defense is created by Vitamin Games and is free on the Mac App Store, 99¢ on the iPhone and iPad for the standard version and $1.99 for the HD version

Xbox One Specs

May 21, 2013 by Karlene Leave a Comment

Microsoft did a great job revealing to us the new Xbox One, here are some of the specs that will be in this system coming later this year:

This “all in one” system will work seamlessly together for games, entertainment and television.

Microsoft promises that you’re “going to have a relationship with your TV.”

Voice commands can be used to go from TV to game to internet without any lag, as was demonstrated. You will be able to use universal gestures such as swipe, and grab and pan. Skype will also be a part of Xbox One.

With the new Kinect, you won’t need to log in manually, it will recognize you and log you in. Microsoft says that it will be able to read your heartbeat and has a better understanding of rotational movement.

TV on Xbox sounds like its going to be pretty cool. Not only can you use it to watch regular channels it seems as though they are creating a channel of their own, as Steven Spielberg announced  a new Halo TV series. The NFL has also joined Xbox and showed us some interaction with fantasy stats and using Skype with NFL broadcasts.

There will be 15 new games within the first year, eight of which will be brand new franchises. Forza 5 was shown, and a new game called Quantum Break.

For XboxLive they promise 300,000 servers for Xbox One

This is all just some of the info we got, more coming at E3 June 11-13.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Flip Cover

April 26, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

If there’s one accessory that’s pretty much an essential it’s got to be the case. Our brand new shiny phones are so elegant and sleek but they are vulnerable. They fall out of our pockets when we lean over, they slide across multiple surfaces and just by holding them we are actually causing wear and tear on our phones. It’s very rare that I see anyone using a smart phone these days without some sort of protective case, and that brings us to the Samsung Galaxy S4.

The latest and greatest from Samsung has yet to truly arrive, but it’s never too early to scope out some accessories. In fact, one case is just as sleek as the new S4 itself and you know it will fit perfectly because it’s made by Samsung. It’s the Samsung Galaxy S4 Flip Cover.

The Samsung Flip Cover comes in two flavors, one has a “view cover” that allows you to see important information without opening the cover while the other covers the entire front display for complete protection. Both cases are extremely thin and lightweight, this is nice considering Samsung has spent so much time trying to make the device powerful yet lightweight and comfortable to use. We don’t want to make our phone bulky just by adding a cover to it.

Overall, this case is lightweight, durable and features a brushed metal look on the front of the flip cover and a glossy rear cover the matches the actual phone design. I really like the look of the new S4 and matching the phone’s design was pretty clever. This is a great case for the soon to be available Galaxy S4.

You can pick up either case for $34.99 along with many other great accessories.

Samsung Flip Cover Features:

• Enhanced protection for the Samsung Galaxy S 4
• Available in multiple colors
• Soft felt liner protects against smudges and dirt
• Front cover folds over for easy access to the phone’s screen
• Back cover replaces the phone’s back, maintaining the Galaxy S 4’s sleek design

The New Tomb Raider is Here

March 4, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

We have adventured with Lara Croft many times before but this game just looks like a completely different animal. The developers have really changed the look and feel of the game and not to mention Lara herself. It looks dark and gritty and personally I love it.

Tomb Raider: Square Enix

The team at Crystal Dynamics haven’t just made visual changes to the game but have also fundamentally changed up the gameplay. They really tried to convey the struggle that Lara is going through during her perilous journey and by the looks of it, it has paid off. Your not marching around the game with some bullet proof character, Lara is human after all and her reactions to the world around her are in line with what you would expect to see from someone in real life.

Armed with only the raw instincts and physical ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance, TOMB RAIDER promises to deliver an intense and gritty story into the origins of Lara Croft and her ascent from a frightened young woman to a hardened survivor.

Lara Croft is a video game legend and changing up her appearance is risky and some purists may disagree, but I feel that they have made the right call and went with a good character design. Tomb Raider will be available on March 5th 2013 for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC. For complete details head to the official Tomb Raider page.
