July 17, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

ccil ogo

Yes, it’s that wonderful time of year when the world gets a little geekier. It’s Comic-Con!

The international convention started in 1970 and it is now the most recognized convention of it’s type with over 100,000 joining the party. It’s an awesome celebration of what we love including not only comics but films, science fiction/fantasy literature and much more.

Special guests make appearances, often by surprise, including those behind the creation of our beloved comics. Actors/Directors will show up to discuss projects and roles in films as well as sharing interesting stories and in-depth discussions on lore. The action is already underway as things kick off with preview night.

COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL 2013 Hours/Dates:

  • Wednesday, July 17 (Preview Night): 6:00-9:00 PM
  • Thursday, July 18, Friday, July 19, Saturday, July 20: 9:30 AM-7:00 PM
  • Sunday July 21: 9:30 AM-5:00 PM

For a complete schedule and full event details, please head to the official Comic-Con website.

Xbox One Specs

May 21, 2013 by Karlene Leave a Comment

Microsoft did a great job revealing to us the new Xbox One, here are some of the specs that will be in this system coming later this year:

This “all in one” system will work seamlessly together for games, entertainment and television.

Microsoft promises that you’re “going to have a relationship with your TV.”

Voice commands can be used to go from TV to game to internet without any lag, as was demonstrated. You will be able to use universal gestures such as swipe, and grab and pan. Skype will also be a part of Xbox One.

With the new Kinect, you won’t need to log in manually, it will recognize you and log you in. Microsoft says that it will be able to read your heartbeat and has a better understanding of rotational movement.

TV on Xbox sounds like its going to be pretty cool. Not only can you use it to watch regular channels it seems as though they are creating a channel of their own, as Steven Spielberg announced  a new Halo TV series. The NFL has also joined Xbox and showed us some interaction with fantasy stats and using Skype with NFL broadcasts.

There will be 15 new games within the first year, eight of which will be brand new franchises. Forza 5 was shown, and a new game called Quantum Break.

For XboxLive they promise 300,000 servers for Xbox One

This is all just some of the info we got, more coming at E3 June 11-13.

The World’s Most Portable Gaming System Reveals UI

April 23, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr 1 Comment

The world’s most portable gaming system, GameStick, is now showing off it’s UI in a developer kit video that has recently been released. GameStick has been pushed into a reality thanks to it’s successful Kickstarter campaign and it’s really nice to see how things are coming together. Now, it’s time to get these devices into the hands of developers so they can start cranking out some great content for the new device.

GameStick Console

The console itself is quite amazing as it’s basically a controller and a USB stick. The console is Android based and really quite unique and actually has quite a bit of power behind it. GameStick plugs straight into your TV’s HDMI slot and connects to the controller via Bluetooth 4.0. It even supports additional memory through the use of a microSD slot.

GameStick Controller and Wireless Charging Dock

GameStick’s simplicity is what makes it stand out in a gaming world that still seems to be stuck on big clunky hardware. It may not be the next-gen PS4 or Xbox but it’s a pretty awesome way to bring the world of Android and gaming to your big screen TV in 1080p.

Here are the System Specs:

  • Processor – Amlogic 8726-MXS
  • Memory – 1GB DDR3 / 8GB FLASH
  • Content Download Manager w/ cloud storage for games.
  • WiFi – 802.11 b/g/n
  • Bluetooth – 4.0
  • O/S – Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • Controller – Bluetooth 3.0
  • Full 1080p HD video decoding
  • Upgrade memory via microSD card slot (up to 32GB)
  • Support for iOS and Android mobile devices to be used as controllers
  • Support for XBMC.

Carrie Fisher will return as Leia in new “Star Wars” films

March 6, 2013 by Karlene Leave a Comment

Carrie Fisher was undoubtedly noticed for her role as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy.

Recently she sat down with Palm Beach Illustrated for a Q&A session. They asked her if she could confirm her return as Leia in the new saga with Disney and she said “yes”. They also asked her what she thinks Princess Leia would be like today and if she would still be rocking the famous buns, and she answered, “Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home [laughs]. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle. The bagel buns and the bikini, because probably she has sundowners syndrome. At sundown, she thinks that she’s 20-something. And she puts it on and gets institutionalized.”

Rumors are still going around that Harrison Ford will return as Han Solo. So What about Mark Hamil? He said last month that George Lucas has spoken to the main cast, and he would not re-cast any of their roles if they decline to return.

The new “Star Wars” saga is to be in theaters in 2015.
