Carrie Fisher will return as Leia in new “Star Wars” films

March 6, 2013 by Karlene Leave a Comment

Carrie Fisher was undoubtedly noticed for her role as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy.

Recently she sat down with Palm Beach Illustrated for a Q&A session. They asked her if she could confirm her return as Leia in the new saga with Disney and she said “yes”. They also asked her what she thinks Princess Leia would be like today and if she would still be rocking the famous buns, and she answered, “Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home [laughs]. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle. The bagel buns and the bikini, because probably she has sundowners syndrome. At sundown, she thinks that she’s 20-something. And she puts it on and gets institutionalized.”

Rumors are still going around that Harrison Ford will return as Han Solo. So What about Mark Hamil? He said last month that George Lucas has spoken to the main cast, and he would not re-cast any of their roles if they decline to return.

The new “Star Wars” saga is to be in theaters in 2015.

Featured App: ILoveFilm

February 28, 2013 by Karlene Leave a Comment

Looking for an iPad app that acts as a small light box for tracing?

I discovered ILoveFilm while searching for a free light box app. Even though the name and purpose of this app was to be able to look at negative images from a camera, I have found that using it as a light box to trace my sketches was the best one I could find.

The way it works is super simple, you open the app and you touch the little button to turn on the light. You also have a bar to move up or down to adjust the brightness. Thats it!

ILoveFilm

The one thing that bothers me about using an iPad as a light box, is when you rest your hand on it, the touch screen goes a little crazy and sometimes closes the app and then opens other things due to the multitouch gestures. I found that if you go into Settings>General>Turn OFF Multitasking Gestures, this turns off the ability to use four or five fingers to: pinch to the home screen, swipe up to reveal multitasking bar, and to swipe left or right between apps. Now that the gestures are turned off, resting your hand on the screen while tracing, will not give you anymore problems. Now just make sure the brightness is turned up all the way on the iPad and you are ready to trace!

I recommend this app for small artwork due to the screen size. Other then that, it’s free and extremely simple to use!

Only available on Apple iPad.

Harrison Ford To Comeback as Han Solo?

February 17, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Han Solo

If you haven’t already heard, there’s a chance that Harrison Ford may show up in “Star Wars: Episode VII”. This report came from Umberto “El Mayimbe” Gonzalez who mentioned it on Fox News Latino. The Idea is quite interesting to say the least and definitely a surprise to fans of the franchise.

If Han Solo does make it into the film it would be interesting to see how he is incorporated into the storyline. It’s quite obvious that Harrison Ford is a bit older, age 70, and that would clearly change the time timeframe in which his character would exist. Another question that comes up is whether or not he will show up as a cameo or a complete character with full involvement in the story. Either way, if he does jump onboard, many wonder if Ford finally get the chance to have Han Solo killed off? In an older interview with ABC, Ford talks about how he always thought that Solo should have died in Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Who knows, maybe he will do the film just for that.

Nothing of course is official and if there was any deal in the works it would take some time before everything is finalized. One thing is for sure and that is we are getting more Star Wars and hopefully we are in for a treat.

VGHS Season 2 is a Go!

February 12, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

With over 10,000 backers and over $800,000 pledged, Video Game High school (VGHS) will be creating a season 2. VGHS season 2 will be directed by Matt Arnold and Freddie Wong with actions sequences co-directed by Brandon Laatsch. Each episode in season 2 will feature TV length episodes, approximately 22-25 minutes in length, which is a change up from season one’s shorter, more compact episodes.

Video Game High School is a series set in an alternate reality where professional video gaming becomes the biggest spectator sport in the world. It follows Brian D, an aspiring pro gamer who lands an invitation to VGHS, the most prestigious gaming academy in the world. Think Hogwarts, but instead of spells and magic wands, it’s headshots and IBM Model M keyboards!

You can catch up by watching the entire first season along with other great videos at RocketJump , a home for the collective creative content surrounding Freddie W, Matt Arnold, and their partners.

Freddie Wong and company are also known for making amazing content on his Youtube channel freddiew, which has millions and millions of views. If you haven’t seen anything they’ve made (you would essentially have to had never used youtube before to avoid it) then I highly recommend you check it out.

Here is their kickstarter video:

World of Warcraft Movie Gets a Director

January 31, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Duncan Jones, who directed Source Code and Moon will now be directing the live-action film based on the MMORPG by Blizzard Entertainment, World of Warcraft. The film has been trying to pick up steam over the last few years but hasn’t had much momentum until recently. Movies based on video games haven’t done so well over the years but hopefully this film will capture the essence of what has made World of Warcraft so successful over the years. The original game was released back in 2004 and has completely changed the company that created it, Blizzard Entertainment, due to it’s massive success.

Given the success of superhero movies, there is no reason why a movie about a video game with such a massive amount of lore behind it, can’t do just as well. With good writers and a solid cast we could see something worth watching. Many lore fans will argue that the story is difficult to put on screen but if the Lord of the Rings can translate well then so can WoW. Legendary Pictures is behind the film and hopes to see it release sometime in 2015.

Here is the official blue post from Blizzard:

We are pleased to announce that Duncan Jones, director of critically-acclaimed films Source Code and Moon, has signed on with Legendary Pictures to direct the upcoming live-action film based on the Warcraft universe. Click here for more info.

Legendary is keeping its script, written by Charles Leavitt, under wraps. The Warner Bros.-based production and finance outfit is eyeing a fall 2013 start and a 2015 release. Jones’ producing partner, Stuart Fenegan, will executive produce while Chris Metzen will co-produce for Blizzard. Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing for Legendary along with Blizzard and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Alex Gartner. Warcraft is expected to have a budget north of $100 million.
