Ubisoft Database Gets Hacked

July 2, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Ubisoft Logo

The video game software company Ubisoft has had it’s database hacked into and sensitive information like the passwords of account holders has been compromised. Ubisoft has released a message urging users to change their passwords as soon as possible.

We recently discovered that one of our Web sites was exploited to gain unauthorized access to some of our online systems. We instantly took steps to close this off and to begin a thorough investigation with the relevant authorities, internal and external security experts, and to start restoring the integrity of any systems that may have been compromised.

Ubisoft has put up a post describing the issue in detail on their blog page.  To get the latest updates from Ubisoft you can follow them on Facebook page. Ubisoft is the company behind many big title video games including Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed, and Call of Juarez.

Nintendo Loses Domain Dispute for Wii U

June 30, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

WiiU Controller

Earlier this year Nintendo wanted to acquire “wiiu.com” but found that it was already taken. Nintendo went ahead and filed a complaint for cybersquatting. Unfortunately for Nintendo, Fusible is reporting that they have lost the dispute and will not be able to take control of the domain.

Nintendo will likely have to fork over some serious cash in order to own the domain and what makes this worse is that prior to the complaint, the domain was up for auction. This is just one of many battles that major companies have had with domain holders over the years. It kind of makes you wonder why these businesses don’t do a little more research before they name a product.

Featured App: Dumb Ways to Die

June 19, 2013 by Karlene Leave a Comment

This app is silly and fun. You have little characters at a train station that you help get through silly levels of “dumb ways to die”. You only get three lives and a limited amount of time in each round, the longer you live the game picks up speed and becomes tricky. The more you help them survive, the more points you get to unlock other characters.

Dumb Ways to Die is a public service announcement campaign by Metro Trains in Melbourne, Australia to promote rail safety. The campaign went viral through sharing and social media starting in November 2012. You can visit their website dumbwaystodie.com to download the song, watch the video and read some tips on safety.

You’ve seen the video – now the lives of those adorably dumb characters are in your hands!

Download the FREE game now to protect private parts from piranhas, wipe up vomit, feed rattlesnakes, and most importantly – be safe around trains.

Get it here at the App Store.

Titanfall is Definitely a Game Changer

Titanfall looks nothing like any first person shooter I’ve seen. With it’s focus on a story driven multiplayer experience and unique gameplay it looks to be a big hit. Titanfall combines two games into one as you, the pilot, fight on the ground like a more traditional FPS but then you have the option to hop into a giant mechanical extension of yourself, a Titan, and blast your enemies away.

I haven’t been this excited for a game like this in a while, mostly because FPS games have become very run-of-the-mill and I only tend to engage in a select few that I have become familiar with over the years and that have a good multiplayer experience. Sometimes I’ll commit  if the game has storyline that’s compelling but all too often I’m let down .

It’s refreshing to see a new spin on the genre and hopefully it will be as much fun as it looks. Unfortunately, it looks like PS4 owners will have to wait to find out if they will get a chance to duel as a Titan as Titanfall has only been officially been announced for PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
