Sony Offers Up New PS4 Teaser Video

May 20, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Sony has just released a teaser video that barely gives us a glimpse of the Playstation 4 hardware. It’s obvious that they don’t want the boys from Redmond getting all of the attention.

They also mention that you can “see it first” at PlayStation’s E3 Press Conference live June 10, 2013 starting 6:00pm Pacific Time at http://us.playstation.com.

The Next Generation Xbox, We Have Questions

We are now only one day away from Microsoft’s May 21st event that will begin at 10 AM PDT on Xbox Live, Xbox.com and Spike TV.  This event is where the next generation Xbox is to be unveiled and of course we are all just filled with anticipation and feeling anxious as we await any new details about the PS4’s competition. If you haven’t already you can check out Major Nelson’s latest podcast which will fill you in a bit on how things are going come together in the next few weeks for Xbox.

Here’s few questions to get us thinking about the next-gen Xbox:

Many Xbox fans are hoping that the new Xbox isn’t “Online Only” and there are a few rumors that say it won’t be and hopefully that’s the case. I think a console that locks you into online only mode at this point in time is self destructive, I don’t think that the gaming community is ready for that yet.

Will Microsoft include a Blu-Ray player in the Xbox (infinity, 720)? There’s no way to know unless they tell us but I’m rooting for “yes”, because it makes sense and it would be nice to have the extra benefits of being able to play Blu-Ray movies on your console along with having the extra capacity for gaming media.

Will there be Skype integration? This would be a great social feature to add into the mix and I hope it makes it’s way in. Besides, Skype and Microsoft are now one in the same.

Will there be Solid State Drives? I haven’t heard any rumors on this but it would be really nice to have an SSD onboard especially with an increased focus on downloadable content. Faster load times and just overall better performance, let’s keep our fingers crossed.

What about a new version of Kinect, what will it look like and how will it be integrated? Some rumors say it will be built into the console itself. If you missed our earlier post you can check out Illumiroom, which is an augmented reality device that projects images around your television and it works with Kinect technology. This could very well be an accessory for the new Xbox.

Finally, what will it look like and what will be under the hood? Will Microsoft show off the goods? How much muscle with the new console have and will it best the PS4?  Maybe we will see a console this time, Sony has yet to show us the PS4’s hardware, which is kind of a let down, even though it probably shouldn’t matter but heck, we want to see it!

Be sure to check back with us as we will be rolling out a rundown of the next-gen Xbox in the days to come.

Microsoft Getting Rid of Points and Going With Cash

May 18, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

MS Gift Card

Most of us hate virtual currencies, myself included, they never seem to add up the way you want them to and there’s always a few virtually unusable points left over in the end, just enough to make you consider buying more right? Except that you probably don’t because you need to buy a preset amount that’s more than what you need. This is all very bad and the big question is, what’s wrong with the currencies we already have?

MS Point Card

Microsoft has apparently been thinking about this and thankfully will likely be switching over to a gift card system that uses cash instead of virtual currency like Xbox Points. It’s also highly likely that this change won’t just be for Xbox users, it will also be applied to the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store as well.

Many other companies use a standard cash based gift card system and it works out quite well, Microsoft’s gift card and cash based system should be just as successful. It will help tie together Microsoft’s marketplace and hopefully make it a more appealing place to shop.

Diablo III Anniversary Brings Gifts

May 15, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

It’s hard to believe that it has already been a year since the release of Diablo III (May 15 2012) but it’s not time to sit and reflect, it’s time to celebrate. Blizzard is offering players who login to Diablo III between May 15 and May 21 a 25% boost to their Magic Find and +EXP stats plus your magic find bonus will stack above the 300% cap. That’s a pretty sweet deal.

To make your desktop look a little less lame and a little more evil, Blizzard has also put up some new Diablo III wallpapers. Blizzard also has a few other fun things going on in celebration of the anniversary including live streams and having you spread the word by showing off your love of the game by taking a picture of you and your friends holding a “Happy Birthday Diablo III” sign and then tweeting it, and if they like what you send them they will re-tweet it.

*Interesting Fact: Diablo III sold  3.5 million copies in the first 24 hours after it’s release, making it the fastest selling PC game.

A Brand New SNES Game To Be Released This Year?

May 12, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

It has been over a decade since there was an official game release for the Super Nintendo in the US, in fact, the last time we saw a new title for this out of production console was 1998. Now, in 2013 we will be seeing the release of a brand new game, Nightmare Busters for SNES /Super Famicom. The game will come complete with an SNES cartridge, full color box and manual.

NightmareBustersSS2

This game was supposed to have been released years ago during the days when the SNES was still for sale but it never made it’s way onto the store shelves. The Super Fighter Team, the folks behind the publishing and production of this game headed by president Brandon Cobb, has decided to pick up this cancelled title and bring it to life.

The game is a side scroller based on the story of two leprechaun brothers, Flynn and Floyd, who must fight off creatures from their nightmares in order to return to more pleasant dreams which will finally allow them to have a peaceful sleep.

A CARNIVAL OF DARKNESS HAS SPRUNG TO LIFE…

Synchronized with the wavelengh of dreams, the miserable Tyrant has discovered a way to enter them and convolute what children see, hear and feel while they sleep — all for the benefit of his twisted amusement. Enter Flynn and his twin brother Floyd, two virtuous leprechauns who refuse to sit idly by while the Tyrant weaves his dreadful delusions. Get going, gents! There’s no time to lose!”

If you’re interested in getting your hands on this game you will have to wait as they are currently sold out. The game is retailing for $60 and has sold 600 copies. The  higher cost of the game is due to manufacturing costs, the cartridges are notoriously expensive to produce.
