YouTube Could Offer Paid Subscription Service

October 23, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Billboard has reported that YouTube may be offering a paid subscription service later this year that focuses on music, more specifically, music videos. The service will likely have both premium and free content that will be available on any device.

The challenge for Google is that many users already enjoy their favorite music for free at anytime on YouTube, so how could they design a service you would want to pay a fee for? It’s likely that some features may include the removal of ads, access to full albums, and exclusive “premium only” content. In many ways this service will be similar to what Spotify currently offers and with the massive audience that YouTube has, this could be a very sucessful move for them.

As of this posting there is no official confirmation from YouTube on whether or not such a service will launch or if it does, when, although some have speculated a holiday launch later this year.

Earlier this week many websites, including AllThingsD, announced that Apple will be holding another special event on Tuesday October 22. The event is expected to be primarily about an update to the iPad line which will likely feature a 64-bit processor (A7), Touch ID sensor, and updated camera. Some rumors have mentioned that we could see the bezel of the iPad shrink even more in this next revision and we could possibly see an iPad mini with a retina display.

As of this posting, there are still no official announcements from Apple regarding this event and we also haven’t heard where they are planning to hold the event. As soon as official details begin to roll in we will be pushing out updates.

Warcraft Movie Release Date Set December 18, 2015

October 2, 2013 by Karlene 1 Comment

Blizzard Entertainment has announced yesterday, October 1st, in a tweet, the official release date for their movie Warcraft. The film was first announced at E3 back in 2006.

We’re pleased to announce that @Legendary Pictures’ WARCRAFT will be released by @UniversalPics on December 18, 2015.

The film is being directed by Duncan Jones, and is rumored to feature actor Colin Farrell. Spider-Man director Sam Raimi was at one point involved, though he would later drop out, claiming Blizzard “mismanaged” the film. It is believed to have a budget that exceeds $100 million.

The plot is largely unknown, but there have been past reports that tell us it could have “time travel and alien worlds”. Production on the film will begin in January. Some are excited and others think this is a huge mistake. Guess we will just have to wait and find out.

Apple has sent out invitations to the media for a September 10th event where Apple is likely to unveil its latest version of the iPhone at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California at 10:00 AM Pacific time. We heard earlier this year that this could be the potential release date.

We are expecting to see two iPhone models launch at this event. The first model will likely be an upgrade to the current iPhone 5, perhaps an iPhone 5S with a rumored fingerprint scanner, wider aperture camera and dual LED flash.

The second iPhone is rumored to be a more “affordable” iPhone which is currently being dubbed the iPhone 5C. The name seems to be all but confirmed in these recently leaked photos (above) of a finished iPhone 5C package. The iPhone 5C will likely be made of plastic and come in a variety of colors to choose from, this seems to be somewhat confirmed in Apples choice of color in their invitations.

Apple is also likely to showcase a completed version of iOS 7 which will launch alongside the new iPhone.

Samsung confirmed that it will be getting into the wearable technology game when Samsung’s executive vice president of mobile business, Lee Younghee, had an exclusive interview with The Korea Times and discussed a few details about the upcoming smartwatch. Lee said that the concept name for the device is called Galaxy Gear.

According to Lee, the purpose of Galaxy Gear will be to enhance their current mobile experience and that  “Gear will add meaningful momentum to the mobile industry”.  In response to questions about a possible flexible display Lee mentions that it will not be flexible but that Samsung does hold various patents for a flexible display which would most definitely be using in future products.

There has been no shortage of speculation surrounding the possibility of an Apple iWatch to come in the near future and Samsung seems to be trying to beat them to the market. Apple has hired some notable people from the fashion industry which hints towards their intentions to get into wearable tech as well. Many people expected Apple to discuss it’s plans for an iWatch product earlier this year at the 2013 WWDC, but it seems that we may have our best chance to hear something this fall.
