May 13, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Commander Chris Hadfield has made an awesome video, actually he’s made quite a few awesome videos, but in this last one he says goodbye to the International Space Station as he gets ready to land back on Earth by creating an performing an amazing cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity”. The video offers something to this song that no other video can and it fits his situation perfectly, it simply captures the moment and the view of Earth is stunning.

A Brand New SNES Game To Be Released This Year?

May 12, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

It has been over a decade since there was an official game release for the Super Nintendo in the US, in fact, the last time we saw a new title for this out of production console was 1998. Now, in 2013 we will be seeing the release of a brand new game, Nightmare Busters for SNES /Super Famicom. The game will come complete with an SNES cartridge, full color box and manual.

This game was supposed to have been released years ago during the days when the SNES was still for sale but it never made it’s way onto the store shelves. The Super Fighter Team, the folks behind the publishing and production of this game headed by president Brandon Cobb, has decided to pick up this cancelled title and bring it to life.

The game is a side scroller based on the story of two leprechaun brothers, Flynn and Floyd, who must fight off creatures from their nightmares in order to return to more pleasant dreams which will finally allow them to have a peaceful sleep.

A CARNIVAL OF DARKNESS HAS SPRUNG TO LIFE…

Synchronized with the wavelengh of dreams, the miserable Tyrant has discovered a way to enter them and convolute what children see, hear and feel while they sleep — all for the benefit of his twisted amusement. Enter Flynn and his twin brother Floyd, two virtuous leprechauns who refuse to sit idly by while the Tyrant weaves his dreadful delusions. Get going, gents! There’s no time to lose!”

If you’re interested in getting your hands on this game you will have to wait as they are currently sold out. The game is retailing for $60 and has sold 600 copies. The  higher cost of the game is due to manufacturing costs, the cartridges are notoriously expensive to produce.

Ammonia Leak On Space Station Appears to Be Fixed

May 11, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

An ammonia leak on the International Space Station was hopefully fixed today as astronauts went on a spacewalk for five hours and thirty minutes to repair it. The leak seemed to be coming from a cooling system that cools down vital systems onboard the ISS.

The ammonia leak created what looked a lot like snow flakes flying off into space. You can see this “snow’ in the video above. NASA has not yet called the mission a complete success as they are waiting to see if the repairs hold up over time. So far everything seems to be looking good.

You can check out NASA.gov for more information on how the mission was performed along with further updates on the status of the leak itself..

iPad Could Cause Serious Problems with Defibrillators

May 10, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Apparently the magnets in the iPad 2, which are used for the Smart Cover, can completely shut down implanted defibrillators if left on the chest while sleeping. This is clearly a big deal if you rely on an internal defibrillator to keep you up and running.

Fourteen-year-old Gianna Chien discovered this problem during a science fair project and soon she will be sharing her discovery with the Heart Rhythm Society.

Many defibrillators shut off in the presence of a magnet due to a magnetic switch which is used as a safety feature. Some devices turn on after the magnet is moved away but some require you to have them turned on manually.

This is clearly a major problem as millions of people own the iPad 2 and the situation in which the issue occurs is very common. Fortunately, this young girl’s discovery can bring awareness to this issue and possibly save lives.

Microsoft Wants Nook Content for $1 Billion

May 8, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Microsoft is reportedly looking to acquire the digital portion of Nook Media LLC and they are offering up $1 Billion for the deal. This move, if made, could help boost Microsoft in the e-book market along with a stronger presence in education, an area that Microsoft could use some help. It’s important to note that it doesn’t appear that Microsoft has any interest the hardware that Nook has, just it’s “digital assets”.

Nook hasn’t really seen great sales as of late and struggles to get any significant traction among similar hardware. This acquisition by Microsoft could prove to be beneficial for everyone involved but it’s still unclear whether or not a deal like this will go through.
