New Zelda Preorder Shows Up at Walmart Among Others

April 9, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Nintendo has many projects in development right now and they are hard at work trying to get them finished and out to Wii U owners. Obviously, none of these titles have official names and many are not even set to be released any time soon.

Walmart, however, has decided that it’s time to get those pre-orders up on their site and they have done so with some names that leave little to the imagination while others are a bit more ambiguous. Either way it definitely helps build excitement and anticipation for new and upcoming Wii U titles, which the console desperately needs. I put together an article recently discussing Nintendo’s interpretation of the rather dismal launch of the Wii U.

Here are some of the titles that Walmart has put up pre-orders for:

  • Zelda 2 RPG Wii U
  • Mario 3D Wii U
  • Mario Kart Wii U

Next Xbox To Be Revealed in May

April 8, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

xbox360slm

We have been patiently waiting to hear details about Microsoft’s answer to the Playstation 4 and it looks like we will finally  get some details in May. The next-gen Xbox was supposed to be seen by the masses in April but instead it will be May 21st according to The Verge.

We actually know very little about the next-gen Xbox, codenamed Durango, but we do have an idea what’s in store for Xbox fans. It is likely that the software in the new Xbox will be very similar to Windows 8 and it’s possible that the console will require an “Always On” connection to the internet. That last bit has some gamers a bit on edge and even has them considering other consoles if Microsoft actually employs this strategy.

As always we will keep you in the loop when more details emerge about the next Xbox.

Get Your Apple ][ Fix Without the Hardware

March 3, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

The Apple ][ and the the Apple IIgs were great machines and can spark up some serious nostalgia. The only issue is that today, they are a bit hard to find. Let’s not forget to mention that you will probably have to drop some decent cash to get one that’s in good shape as well.

There’s no need to worry though, there’s still a way you can play almost every Apple ][ and Apple IIgs game ever made and it’s in your browser. Yep, the awesome people at VirtualApple have made it so simple to load up any of your favorite games in seconds. It even makes the old drive seek sound when the emulation starts!

One game that I couldn’t resist loading up right away was Oregon Trail. This game was one of my favorites growing up and now I don’t have to buy old Apple hardware to enjoy it. Even if you have never used an Apple ][ or IIgs, I highly recommend you check out the emulator and the games they are offering. It’s interesting to look at older games and see how much things have changed, it really puts things into perspective. Besides it can definitely help cure some boredom.

All you need to do is download a simple plugin that’s compatible with most versions of Windows and Mac OS X and most web browsers.

Well, patch time is upon us yet again and this time Diablo III is getting all of the attention. Blizzard has made patch 1.0.7 live and with it comes some nice features.

The Jeweler and Blacksmith will now possess new recipes which will be account bound and have an iLevel of 63.  A new tier of account-bound gems of has also been added to the game, Marquise. For Players who are looking to fight each other, you will now be able to do just that in a new zone called, “The Scorched Chapel.”  Players can duel with up to four players in a “free-for-all” fighting environment. This addition also comes along with a brand new PvP chat channel, so you can brag about how awesome you are.

As always the patch also contains various tweaks and bug fixes, which you can read a complete list of on Blizzard’s official Diablo III community site.

Here are a few of the major bug fixes introduced in this patch:

  • Fixed an issue where new Hardcore characters were not labeled as Hardcore on the Main Menu
  • Fixed an error that could occur when closing the World of Warcraft client while the Diablo III client was still running
  • Players will now be properly removed from both the party and the game session whenever a Vote Kick has passed
  • Players will no longer be disconnected from the game whenever vote kicked during a boss encounter
  • Legendary items now have a new mini-map icon
  • This icon should now persist properly and be shown on the mini-map so long as the player is in the same zone as the dropped item
  • Rare Sand Dwellers will now spawn in The Forgotten Ruins
  • Champion Plague Swarms will now spawn in Cryder’s Outpost
  • Champion Fallen Cur will now spawn in The Storm Halls
