Bid on Items From Playstation “Greatness” Commercial

July 16, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Playstation had a big hit with their “Greatness” commercial but it didn’t happen overnight. Many hours were spent custom building just about everything you see on screen. So it would be kind of waste to just store it all away right?

Well apparently Sony was thinking the same thing when they created the site Bid For Greatness which will allow players to bid on items from the commercial. All of these items are unique hand-made and well crafted items that took hours to make, so naturally they will be expensive right? Wrong, what makes this even better is that you will be bidding on each item using trophies that your earn on Playstation. This makes perfect sense to me, the more you game, the more you get. Even if your not a Playstation fan you can still appreciate the loot, besides I’m sure we will see them popping up on eBay.

Possible Images and Video of Low Cost iPhone

July 6, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

There has been a lot of speculation as to whether or not Apple will be announcing a lower cost iPhone made from mostly plastic. Many “leaks” have been showing up recently and now it seems we are getting a real good look at what might be coming this fall as Techdy claims to have the real outer shell of the highly rumored and much anticipated phone.

Techdy believes that the outer parts of the phone are indeed a polycarbonate material and that it has a 4″ screen just like the current iPhone. Techdy has even put together a little video showing of the shell.

Whether or not this is real, it definitely looks like something Apple would put together but it could also be just a cheap replica of the current iPhone that’s meant to run some obscure OS.  I’m not really sure what Apple has in store for a lower cost iPhone but I do hope they create one. It will be interesting to see how they price the phone and how it will compete against other more economical phone solutions.

Tested, A Whole Lot of Geekery

June 13, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

TestedLogo As a geek, I spend a lot of time not only creating and compiling content for our site but also enjoying content from others as well and today I thought I would take a moment to share with you one of my favorite places to visit on the web.

Tested.com is a website that covers technology, science, art and basically just awesome and geeky stuff in general. Tested was created by Will Smith and Norman Chan and now features Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage from MythBusters. I am big fan of MythBusters and basically anything Adam and Jamie do in general. So you could only imagine that I would be extremely excited to see their involvement in the content of Tested.

The website isn’t the only content you can get from Tested, they also have a great YouTube page that is filled with great videos which range from getting a hands on look at the latest electronics, to going Inside Adam Savage’s Cave where you can witness the creative genius in action as he creates something amazing from nothing. Want to see the Hyneman in his natural habitat? Now you can by watching Inside Jaime’s Shop.

So, if you can’t seem to get enough geekery in your life ( and honestly, who couldn’t use a little more?) check out Tested.

Google Launches Music Subscription Service

May 16, 2013 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

Google play Music

Google has recently launched a music subscription service, “Google Play Music, All Access“. The launch followed it’s initial announcement at Google’s I/O conference in San Francisco. The service currently comes in two flavors, Standard and All Access. The Standard edition let’s you store up to  20,000 of your songs, have sync-free access to your music from anywhere, and of course you can always buy music from the Google Play library. The All Access option has all of the aforementioned features but also includes an unlimited online radio mode which you can customize to your liking.

The standard option is free. The All Access option will cost $9.99/ month unless you sign up before 6/30, then you can get in for $7.99 / month.

So, Google has a music subscription service now, what’s the big deal? We have seen this before, it’s nothing ground breaking right? Well, the short answer is no but it’s not really about pushing limits, it’s about getting into the game and Google has a big advantage by being deeply integrated to the Android market. That’s a lot of exposure and a lot of potential subscribers. Not to mention that Google will undoubtedly find a way to make things more appealing over time.
