How to View FPS in Heroes of the Storm

July 6, 2014 by Richard Vincenti Jr 1 Comment

Heroes of the Storm Logo for How to Display FPS

In order to monitor your FPS, Network Spikes and GPU temperature in Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm, simply press Ctrl+Alt+F for both Mac and PC. The information will be displayed in the top left corner of the screen.

Showing the FPS, Network Spike and GPU temperature information in Heroes of the Storm can help you diagnose many issues. After certain patches you may find that your game performance isn’t quite what it used to be. Make sure you check your graphics settings closely as Blizzard has a tendency to reset everything to their default values after an update.

If you are looking for solutions to performance issues or just any other problems related to Heroes of the Storm, you can always check Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm forum for more information.

Where is the Network Utility in OS X Mavericks?

March 26, 2014 by Richard Vincenti Jr Leave a Comment

 OS X Network Utility icon

In OS X the network utility has been a efficient and convenient way to perform basic tests on your network like ping , trace route, netstat, whois, finger, and port scan. The utility provides all of these tools with the benefit of having a nice graphical user interface to work with (GUI).

The Network Utility has always been included with the installation of OS X and it still is with Mavericks, but it’s no longer in your main applications folder. It has been moved to (/System/Library/CoreServices/Applications).

  • You can easily find the Network Utility in OS X Mavericks by Using Spotlight (the magnifying glass in the top right corner of the screen) and Typing “Network Utility”.

Possible Northern Lights Show for Parts of US and Canada

Early Thursday parts of Northern United States and much of Canada could possibly be in for a Northern Lights show (weather permitting). Joe Kunches, a Federal space weather forecaster said the sun had shot out a strong solar flare late on Tuesday and should arrive early Thursday.

“The University of Alaska’s Geophysical Institute predicts much of Canada and the northern fringes of the U.S. should see the northern lights. Chicago, Boston, Cleveland, Seattle and Des Moines might see the shimmering colors low on the horizon.” says www.wkyc.com.

You may also see some disruption in GPS systems due to the solar flare on Thursday.

3DS Gets Nintendo Network ID

Nintendo has just launched Nintendo Network ID through a new software update on the 3DS. This means that your 3DS will have an account system that’s very similar to the Wii U. In fact, if you own a Wii U and a 3DS, you can now link both consoles to one Nintendo Network ID which will allow you to use the same funds across both platforms.

Other features include being able to use Miiverse on 3DS just like you would on Wii U and of course continued access to the Nintendo eShop. The key feature of this update is obviously the ability to share a wallet between consoles, this is something that has been requested for some time.

There will no doubt be more features added to enhance the Nintendo Network as time goes on, but my personal request would be that they offer more downloads, like virtual console content, that can be played on both the Wii U and 3DS.
